Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexual identities with a funny twist. Prior to her move to Hollywood, she was able to make a few songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical experience. She performed on the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew in her teen years. While at school, she studied journalism as well as women's studies, and was studying Mandarin in Beijing for a time. It wasn't until she graduated that her focus shift to music. After gaining viral fame through the Internet and her own track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually was included on the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album also contained also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The latter song was linked directly with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. With musician and author as her credentials, she set her sights on a third endeavor actor. Aside from early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she's been featured in movies including Neighbors2Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. This June, she released her EP "In Fina We Trust".
